| In December 2009 Bob was asked to travel to the West
African Country of Niger where GHD is designing a new Abbatoir to
investigate the soil foundation conditions. Niger is largely located
within the Sahara Desert, but the south western fringe along the banks
of the Niger river is within the Sahal area a semi desert, where some
form of pastoral farming is possible. The capital Naimey is a mixture of
modern buildings and the traditional. Wildlife is a bit sparse with the exception of the last Giraffe herd in West Africa which is located near Koure to the east of Naimey. This group posed for its picture when we went to visit them. |

| Our project involves the construction of a Multi-species Abattoir for Agriculture Africa. The plant has been designed by GHD and the construction supervision is being carried out by Apollo Projects from New Zealand. The photos below show some of the local cattle, site investigations at the site and quarrying Niger style. | |||
