Yosemite

The spectacular scenery results from the erosion of the valley by glacial action through the Sierra Nevada Granite Batholith. The granite is massive and very strong with few joints, hence the ability to sustain near vertical slopes more than a thousands of metres high

The vegetation in the valley bottom consists of California black oak, ponderosa pine, incense-cedar, white fir and giant sequoia

Animals in the park we saw include the golden-mantled ground squirrel, Steller's Jay and Mule Deer
